Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine warm milk with active dry yeast and granulated sugar. Stir gently and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, salt, and granulated sugar. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and beaten egg. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1-1.5 hours.
- Punch the risen dough down, roll it out to 1/2 inch thick, and cut out donuts. Let them rest for 20-30 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil to 350-360°F in a deep fryer or large pot. Fry the donuts for 1.5-2 minutes per side until golden brown.
- In a bowl, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Fold in strawberry jam.
- Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla for glaze until smooth.
- Inject the cream cheese filling into the cooled donuts, dip them in the glaze, and allow to set for 15-20 minutes.
